The aquatic inspiration for the RM 75-01 Flying Tourbillon Sapphire comes to life in this singular water-themed film. Reflections lap across the screen as the camera frames this most striking timepiece and its translucent body. It’s a refreshing dive into a cool blue world where tropical sunlight dances amid the breaking waves, twilight sets over calm waters, and shards pierce down into the deep, echoing mysteries of the ocean floor.
At MilleDollars we’re all for full transparency, especially when it comes to the work we do. There’s no smoke and mirrors here. If we’re using a special technique to achieve a certain result, then we’re going to shout it from the rooftops.
The brief for the RM 75-01 Flying Tourbillon Sapphire project was to reflect the incredible translucent properties of this revolutionary timepiece in the content we were creating.
So, we took this to heart and decided that the reflective properties of water were exactly what we were going to focus on – in a similar vein to the way colours dance on ripples at sunset.
Technically, we achieved this by suspending the watch above a custom-made tank in our studio and arranging a bespoke lighting rig.
The camera was mounted on a motion control robot arm, which enabled smooth and precise movements around the piece.
Then, we tirelessly fanned the water to achieve those incredible moments where movement and light merge into beauty.
