“Is it me or have we all lost some of our shine?” muses Oscar-winning actor Michelle Yeoh in the opening scene of The Dazzling Division, the latest MilleDollars creation for Richard Mille film heralding the RM HJ-02. The answer is a resounding no, as four unrestrained spirits run amok through a surreal modernist villa to a soundtrack crafted by French electronic duo Justice. Driven by creativity, curiosity and sheer joie de vivre, these women each incarnate a unique facet of fun. They captivate attention with their stunning looks and surprising actions, a fitting metaphor for the colourful Haute Joaillerie timepieces they wear on their wrists.

Colour theory is central to how The Dazzling Division communicates its boundless energy. Rather than using colour as decoration, we used it as a narrative device – dialling up contrast, saturation and tonal interplay to give each scene its own pulse and personality.
Vivid hues create a sense of mischief, glamour and spontaneity, while more controlled combinations bring balance, sophistication and precision. The result is a universe that feels fun, heightened but intentional, helping develop a unique identity for each product on display and highlighting its differentiating attributes.
Set design was instrumental in shaping this unique world. Each environment was chosen to feel visually striking yet slightly uncanny, giving the film its sense of playful fantasy. The challenge for us was to strike the right balance between luxury and surrealism, without pushing things too far.

The mirrored room multiplies gesture, glamour and movement, turning every glance into spectacle. The greenhouse, complete with the Venus flytrap, introduces a naturally seductive and unpredictable energy, while the kitchen adds a dose of absurdity.
Finally, the golf course on the lawn screams rebellion but through a polished theatrical lens. Together, these spaces create a world that feels luxurious, mischievous and meticulously composed, with each set extending the film’s distinctive visual identity.
Working with an actor of Michelle Yeoh’s calibre was an honour, a joy and a big learning experience for the whole crew. She brings so much charisma to the screen that the challenge became creating a world around her that could match this energy without ever competing with it.
There is something incredibly special about watching someone iconic make everything feel effortless, while still being sharp and precise in every moment. That balance of playfulness and control brought so much to the film, and her gracing us with her presence gives it an extra layer of sparkle that feels impossible to manufacture.

El Corte del Diamante pays homage to the much over-looked telenovela format of TV programmes, reflecting MilleDollars’ love of drawing inspiration from every form of storytelling. As one of the most widely watched genres in the world, telenovelas carry a uniquely dramatic, faux-glamour and emotionally heightened language that has captivated billions of viewers across generations and cultures.
Referencing this South American tradition allowed us to tap into something instantly recognisable yet endlessly rich, bringing an added sense of theatricality, humour and cultural resonance to the layered world of The Dazzling Division.
