Bubba Watson is anything but your typical golfer. In this offbeat film, we dive deep into the story of how Richard Mille finally caved in to his incessant demands for a pink watch. Mixing real life footage and animated assets, it’s a masterclass in oddball comedy and storytelling – putting the spotlight firmly on Bubba and his unique blend of elite athlete and captivating raconteur.

Traditional luxury marketing often takes itself way too seriously. With Bubba Watson, we spotted an opportunity to turn things upside down and open the stage for this larger-than-life character and his hilarious stories.

Initially, we decided to film things on location at a crazy golf course on the outskirts of Paris.

Not only did this setting provide an offbeat visual for a pro golfer but Bubba’s genuine interaction with the course added extra humour – he really couldn’t land that final putt.

However, we soon realised the exclusive stories he was giving us during our interview were too good to be cut in the edit.

The only way forward was to break things into chapters but sticking to ‘one real-life setting’ would be slightly too one-dimensional, especially as there was no archive footage to illustrate what he was talking about.

2D animation was the solution we turned to and the result is a colourful campaign that drives a strong message home about the brand and its products.
